A Thread Where People Offer Some Really Great Advice to a Lonely Student

This thread brings out some of the college woes that a first year student might be experiencing. They talk about how hard it is for them to make friends, which is something a lot of students can relate to. I hope their situation has gotten better.

A Thread of Real People Discussing College Life

A concerned father started a thread on a college discussion website after hearing some crazy stories from his son. He has a daughter ready to go to college next year and is worried she will have her innocence taken away.

This somewhat validates what Hollywood is trying to portray, but I still think it is not as ridiculous as Hollywood makes it out to be.

A Fabulous Santa Clara Weekend

I had a great time this past weekend and it had nothing to do with the Hollywood stereotypes or images. A few friends of mine and I pretty much spent the whole weekend together just hanging out and enjoying life.

On Friday night my best friend from elementary school came for a visit and we all celebrated by partying at some of the nearby houses.

On Saturday we got up late and had a nice hearty breakfast at Cozy's. We then went to Valley Christian High School to throw around a football and frisbee. Saturday night was a calmer version of Friday with hanging out and beirut at my friend Christine's.

Sunday was a beach day with skim boarding and laying in the sun. Afterward we went to Dave's house for some hot tubbing on the back deck with a glorious view of the Santa Cruz mountains. Sunday night was the topper with relaxing in front of the TV before heading for home and bed.

A Crazy Santa Clara Weekend

On Saturday the 1st of March, a lot of action happened. There was apparently a fight in the Bronco, a fight at one of the off campus frat houses, and a knife was pulled on a campus safety officer outside of a residence hall.

The streets around Santa Clara had been quiet for a while, but Saturday ended that stillness. Rumors went flying around about people having guns, San Jose State students, and other interesting stories. The event was so big that people were even discussing it in classes throughout the week.

Students here like to say that we live in the Santa Clara bubble; in our own little world in the Silicon Valley. That bubble was definitely popped on Saturday, but I don't think it will be to long until another one replaces it.
